This weekend I watched one of my favorite films, Tell No One (Ne le dis à personne) .  Based upon a novel by American writer Harlan Coben, the movie takes place in France whereas the book’s story occurred in New York.  The transfer of location helps add to the story.  I write about this film in my book, Vibes From The Screen, and my appreciation of the filmmaking art improves with every viewing (7 to date).  The story has a number of sub themes and twists and turns so much that you just have to sit back and let it carry you through its labyrinth.  The ying and yang of extreme tension and a melodic softness just heighten the emotional experience.   There are a number of clues as to what is happening masterfully dropped along the way.  The music is beautiful and so meaningful as part of the story.  The camerawork is superb and the direction is more about storytelling than moviemaking.  The one difference from most european films of the time is that Tell No One ends up wrapping all the parts together.  You are not left wondering about any.

If you have not seen this film or it has been a while, I highly recommend you give yourself a treat.  Available on Netflix(DVD), OnDemand, Kanopy and local libraries.
